Italo-Diva saves Lugner’s opera ball

An opera ball without a Lugner star? Certainly not! Even if Richard Lugner (87) had to put up with a lot – he never thought of giving up. And even if, according to rumors, Lindsey Vonn or Hollywood star Liz Hurley almost cost the builder his last nerves, in the end it is once again the builder who triumphs.

Done. On Friday afternoon, Mörtel finally announced that the state ball had been secured for him and presented Italo diva Ornella Muti as his star guest this year. On February 20, he brings at least a touch of glamor to the Vienna State Opera.

Superstar in Italy, but Hollywood made her wait

The 64-year-old Muti started her acting career in 1970 and became particularly famous in the 80s alongside Adriano Celentano in trash classics such as Give the Monkey Sugar. In 1991 she shot her biggest and only success in Hollywood with Sylvester Stallone Oscar. Muti is the perfect guest for Lugner, because Mörtel has always had a penchant for the great film divas in Italy. In 1995 he brought Oscar winner Sophia Loren to the opera ball. In 2002 it was possible to bring Claudia Cardinale and Gina Lollobrigida to Vienna in the second attempt. He wanted to get the latter as his very first guest as early as 1991 – but at that time she canceled at short notice.
