Italian restaurants in Britain are reducing their tomato consumption, the Guardian reported.
There is currently a shortage of tomatoes in the country. The rise in prices also affects restaurateurs.
They warn that at some point they will offer pasta without tomato sauce and white pizza.
At some point, they will have to limit the use of tomatoes and even remove staple dishes from the menu.
It is explained that in recent weeks the price of tomatoes has increased nearly four times. The Federation of Italian Restaurateurs called on the government to act.
They offer a ceiling on tomato prices. Otherwise, many restaurants may be forced to close.
Meetings are currently being held to resolve the issue of missing essential products in stores.
