Italian minister on ambulance flight Ronaldo: He violated protocol | Foreign football

Cristiano Ronaldo may have violated health rules when he returned to Italy after testing positive for COVID-19 in Portugal, Italy’s Sport Minister said today. The Juventus attacker flew back to Italy in a private jet yesterday to go into quarantine at home.

Vincenzo Spadafora, the sports minister, was asked during a radio interview if Ronaldo had violated health rules in the process and replied: “Yes, I think so, if there had not been specific approval from the health authority.”

Juventus president Andrea Agnelli said no rules had been broken. “You have to call the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of the Interior and let them explain what has been violated,” Agnelli said at a news conference.

Juventus said yesterday that Ronaldo had returned on a medical flight and was “cleared by the appropriate health authorities.”

Ronaldo played a friendly against Spain and a Nations League match against France before testing positive and missing out on Sweden’s 3-0 win yesterday.
