Italian Jannik Sinner won the Vienna Open tennis championship, after Russian Daniil Medvedev was denied the opportunity to retain his title, after defeating him today, Sunday, 6/7 (7/9), 6/4, 3/6 in the final match.
The Italian player decided the match between the top seeds in the tournament in three hours and 5 minutes.
This was Sinner’s second consecutive victory over the Russian player Medvedev, after losing in six previous matches. He had achieved the first victory at the beginning of this October, in the final match of the Beijing Championship.
Medvedev won the Vienna Championship last year, and has 20 titles overall. But so far he has not been able to win a championship twice in a row, and his next chance will be in the Paris Championship, which will be held next week, which he won in 2020.
Sinner won his fourth world title and his tenth overall. Like Medvedev, he qualifies for the World Tennis Association season-ending tournament, which will be held in Paris next month, in which the best eight players will participate throughout the year.
