Robert Kubica was the reserve driver of the Alfa Romeo team during the season. He happened to replace Kimiero Raikkonen in training and qualifying, but he did not compete until Sunday, September 5th.
That has changed at the Zandvoort track. The Cracovian returned to Formula 1 after a two-year break with the most prestigious racing series. In the Dutch GP he was 15th. Considering all the circumstances, the Polish driver was pleased with his performance in the Dutch GP
– For the first time since 2010, I felt that I was racing in Formula 1. So I would like to thank the whole team. To all the boys – Kubica said after the race. The Pole replaced Kimi Raikkonen due to Fin’s falling ill with COVID-19. He showed his good side on the track – he got into the car without the required preparations, and yet he did not finish the race last.
It turns out that Raikkonen has still not tested negative for the virus. This creates an opportunity for Kubica, who, according to “TVP Sport”, will also sit behind the wheel of Alfa Romeo on the legendary Monza track.
The race will be held on Sunday, September 12th. Training and qualifying will start on Friday. The track north of Milan is special for the 36-year-old – it was there that he stood on the F1 podium for the first time 15 years ago. Alfa Romeo Racing ORLEN is to confirm the Pole’s performance in Italy in the next few days.
