The Italian Football Federation confirmed that it will ban clubs from participating in the European Super League “Super League” From participating in local tournaments, most notably the Italian League, threatening his clubs with exclusion.
La Gazzetta dello Sport newspaper reported that the Italian Football Federation decided to approve a clause that prevents Italian clubs from reaching the European Super League, and the Italian Federation will not allow them to join any tournament other than the European Football Association and International Federation (FIFA) championships.
The newspaper pointed out that if any of the Italian clubs joined the European Super League, it would be excluded from the Italian League for the 2024/2025 season.
The European Court of Justice recently condemned UEFA’s dominance in organizing tournaments on the Old Continent, and accused the latter of misuse of power and monopoly, in light of its prevention of holding the European Super League.
The Board of Directors of the Italian Federation held a session last week to agree on the financing system for registering clubs in the next league season (2024-2025), and among the conditions required for registration was that the clubs sign a written pledge “not to participate in competitions organized by private associations.”
No Italian club has expressed its willingness to participate in the tournament except Napoli, while Juventus – which was steadfast in defending the tournament along with Barcelona and Real Madrid – has not revealed its position yet.
