Italian fashion designer Roberto Cavalli died at the age of 83 on Friday in Florence. Foreign press agencies reported on it. Cavalli became famous for his collaborations with film stars such as Brigitte Bardot and Sophia Loren. Eccentric style and prints inspired by nature were close to him in fashion.
According to the Italian agency ANSA, Cavalli had been ill for a long time and his condition had worsened in recent days. A year ago, one of the most prominent figures of Italian fashion of the second half of the 20th century became a father for the sixth time.
Cavalli began to make a name for himself in the 1970s thanks to collaborations with film actresses, and his style, which was the opposite of minimalism, was later able to win over younger celebrities, such as Kim Kardashian, Jennifer Lopez, Naomi Campbell and Lady Gaga, according to AFP.
However, not even Cavalli’s brand escaped financial problems in the 21st century, which also affected other Italian fashion houses. In 2015, Cavalli sold 90 percent of his company’s capital to the investment fund Clessidra, which, however, failed to significantly improve the company’s finances. In 2019, the entire company was bought by the Vision Investments fund from Dubai.
