Famous Italian fashion designer Roberto Cavalli has died at the age of 83, Italian media reported Friday. According to the Italian news agency ANSA, the man died at his home in Florence following a long illness.
First appearing in the 1970s on stars like Sophia Loren and Brigitte Bardot his creations revealing the skin and attracting attention have also seduced new generations of celebrities. The designer’s passion for Ferraris, horses, cigars and open shirts revealing a tanned torso also made him a very popular character in the newspapers.
But his career has also experienced low points, such as in the 1980s, when his flamboyant style appeared to go against the minimalism then in vogue.

The man became known in particular in the mid-1990s for her animal print clothes, decorated with crystals, her leather jackets and her faded jeans. Very fashionable, his models were worn by celebrities such as Madonna, Naomi Campbell and the Spice Girls.
In 2005, he was chosen to update the uniforms of Playboy’s short-dressed Bunnies, and one of his versions obviously included leopard print. He passed the torch of artistic direction of his fashion house in 2015 to Peter Dundas, then to Paul Surridge.
