Italian Education Minister Giuseppe Valditara said today he will visit the town of Abbiategrasso, near Milan, where a student attacked a teacher with a knife and wounded her in the arm and head, Italian news agency ANSA reported.
Valditara described the incident as “particularly disturbing.”
The woman was taken to a hospital in the nearby town of Legnano, her condition is stable, sources said.
The sixteen-year-old attacker also threatened his classmates with a replica gun. He was detained by the carabinieri and was also taken to a hospital in Milan with minor injuries, BTA reported.
“Cases of bullying have multiplied since the COVID-19 pandemic because the interpersonal relationships that are fundamental to education have been disrupted,” Valditara said at the Innovation Pact summit in Milan.
