Among the risk factors, Mastroianni called obesity and diabetes. In addition, the doctor noted that the high mortality rate is explained by the fact that the actual number of infected people is much higher than official data.
“There is an opinion that for every detected case of infection there are 6-10 undetected cases,” the expert noted.
He called it important to conduct not only tests for the coronavirus itself, but also to do a tomographic examination of the lungs for patients, since a swab of the throat can give a negative result, while the lungs are actually affected.
