There will not be an electoral alliance between the Democratic Party and Italia Viva in view of the local elections which will take place in Florence next June. It was Matteo Renzi who made it official. “It’s over with the Democratic Party because the Democratic Party has changed its position compared to the past. The Democratic Party of Florence is the party that makes money from fines. This is something that drives me crazy”, he declared to Toscana TV the leader of Italia Viva from the Leopolda stage taking place in the capital of Tuscany. “We don’t tax citizens who go 51 km an hour on a four-lane road, or we tire them out with eight consecutive fines because respecting the rules is one thing, taxing people is another. Furthermore, the money from the fines they must be focused on road safety” added the former prime minister.
Taking sides against the current management of the Gigliato municipality, the secretary of Italia Viva also returned to talk about the topic of the Fiorentina stadium. “I would like to launch an appeal again because in this city, taking 55 million euros coming from Europe and putting them in the stadium of a Serie A club when we have problems with gyms, facilities, schools, hospitals, suburbs, I it seems absurd”, declared Matteo Renzi. “Let private individuals finance the stadiums and let’s put taxpayers’ money into sports facilities that serve as a social lift, and a Fiorentina fan says so”, continued the leader of Italia Viva, underlining the importance of his football faith. Returning to the discrepancies with the party led by Elly Schlein, the former prime minister reiterated a fundamental concept for him: “The issue of the entry wage is central, not that of the minimum wage”.
