(ANSA) – ROME, NOV 11 – “Italia Liberata”, this is the title of the new Army Calendar 2025, presented this morning at the Hall of Honor of the “Lancieri di Montebello” Regiment in Rome, in the presence of the Undersecretary of Defense, Isabella Rauti . This year’s edition closes a historical trilogy which, starting from the 2023 edition, wanted to tell what happened from the days following the armistice of 8 September 1943 up to the Liberation of the country on 25 April 1945. “The editorial work – explains the Army – retraces the main events in which the reconstituted Army took part, from the Italian Liberation Corps to the Combat Groups, illustrating the undertakings and the courage of the Corps and auxiliary units that participated in the Resistance, as well as the fundamental contribution offered by the Armed Forces to the post-war reconstruction of Italy”. The event was presented by the Chief of Staff of the Army, General Carmine Masiello, by Roberto Balzani, full professor of contemporary history and director of the Department of History, Cultures and Civilizations of the University of Bologna, as well as president of the historical museum of Liberazione, and by Professor Gastone Breccia, military history expert and professor at the University of Pavia, with the moderation of the journalist Sabrina Cavezza. “This calendar closes the trilogy of Army calendars dedicated to the war of liberation. The trilogy was created with the aim of making Italians better aware of the Army’s commitment and contribution to the liberation of the country – the general’s words Masiello – 25 April 2025 will commemorate the eightieth anniversary of the proclamation of the liberation of Italy; 25 April 1945 represents, in fact, a fundamental date in the history of our Republic. It meant for our country the affirmation of democracy and freedom, the end of the war and the regained independence, of which the Army was an active and fundamental part 98 days, the Italian Army was able to react and return to fight and win to liberate the country, demonstrating great moral strength”. “Learning from the past is understanding how to act today – said Senator Rauti -. Knowing our national history is essential to understanding the present and designing the future, especially in the current global geopolitical scenario characterized by growing tensions, pervasive instability and hybrid security threats”. Also for this year, a portion of the proceeds from the sales of Calend Army will be donated to the National Assistance Center for Orphans and Career Soldiers of the Army. (HANDLE).
