Italdesign’s rare Nissan GT-R50 is heading to auction. So far, it costs a fraction of the original price – AutoRevue.cz

The piece kept in the collection has seen almost nothing since production. At the same time, it will probably not retain its original value.

Another true rarity has appeared on the Collecting Cars auction platform, and this time it’s not an old classic. The Nissan GT-R50, a special edition of the Japanese icon with a hand-crafted body by the well-known design studio Italdesign Giugiaro, wants to go to the new owner. From the originally intended limited series of 50 cars, only 19 a now offered piece in Switzerland was fourth in the order.

The GT-R50 project was first presented in 2018, then as a mere concept celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Italian studio and at the same time the fifty-year existence of the legendary GT-R designation in Nissan history. It will come as no surprise that the handful of production cars that were eventually built mostly ended up in the air-conditioned garages of collectors. This is also the case with this example from 2021 with a mileage of only 193 km.

Technically, the GT-R50 is based on the sharper GT-R Nismo, but its technology has undergone further tuning. The 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V6 received, for example, turbochargers from the GT3 racing model, new pistons, an improved injection system and a redesigned exhaust system. It now produces a power of 720 hp (530 kW) and a torque of 780 Nm. Everything continues to go to all wheels through a six-speed dual-clutch transmission.

The bodywork is painted in an optional Liquid Silver shade, while an active hydraulic rear wing is available as an optional extra. Italdesign asked for almost a million euros (990,000 euros/approx. 25.2 million crowns) for the GT-R50 at the time of launch. However, in the ongoing auction, they are not yet aiming for such an astronomical amount. At the moment, the bids are held at 225,000 euros (about 5.6 million crowns). The auction ends on Thursday, October 3, so the value of the car will undoubtedly increase. However, we would not see it for another million euros.
