Itaipú justifies hiring Mendonça despite having its own lawyers

ASSUMPTION. In the presentation of the unconstitutionality action presented by Itaipu to prevent the Comptroller’s audit of its social expenses, in addition to the signature of Magnolia Mendoza (legal advisor of the entity) was that of the lawyer Daniel Mendonça, who was hired in a manner external, which generated much criticism in various sectors, which described hiring as an unnecessary expense.

The financial director of the binational, Fabián Domínguez, justified the hiring of Mendonça, assuring him that he is a “specialist of shaft, of recognized trajectory”, in an interview with 730 AM.

The unconstitutionality action was presented before the Supreme Court of Justice last Tuesday and, although there is no maximum term for it to be issued, the comptroller Camilo Benítez urged a definition in order to know whether or not it will be possible to enter the binational to audit the use of its social funds.

The defense that the CFO used to defend the unconstitutionality raised by Itaipú is that it was sponsored by Mendonça, “a specialized lawyer, an expert in constitutional matters who was not going to sponsor the action if he was not convinced of the matter.”

He added that “beyond my position as financial director at Itaipu, as well as a lawyer, I am convinced of what was presented in that unconstitutional action. There is vast antecedents because the antecedents are from the Brazilian court and some rulings from the Paraguayan court. We can say that the action has sufficient entity and foundation ”.
