In order to continue training professionals in the sector in new agricultural technologies, thus facilitating the process of adaptation and implementation of the so-called agriculture 4.0 and all technological advances on their farms, 30 young people from Palencia have been trained in the use of technology hand in hand with the Agrarian Technological Institute (Itagra).
The old silo of Torquemada, which for years stored crops from the Cerrato region to ensure supplies and alleviate the irregularity of the markets, now converted into a socio-cultural center, hosted the sessions, given by Julio Martin Marguello. They addressed issues related to geopositioning and guidance systems in agricultural vehicles, sensors, variable input application systems, monitoring strategies with sensors, soil and crop sampling, and intelligent irrigation management.
The participants were also able to carry out Sativum practices, an application created and developed entirely by Itagra that allows the evolution of the crop to be seen, highlighting the possible agronomic situations, the effect of the treatments or the difference in development between the different cultivated lands, incidences meteorological or the preparation of fertilization plans, among others. In this way, strategic decision-making is facilitated for professionals in the field that allows them to produce a greater quantity of food at a lower cost and in a sustainable way.
The coordination of the conference, both in the recruitment of participants and in the development of the different sessions, was carried out by Itagra Formación, an entity that was created six years ago from the training branch of the Agrarian and Agrifood Technological Center, which offers advice and training for professionals in the primary sector.
