Ita-Lufthansa, working to overcome the stalemate – News – Ansa.it

A working weekend to overcome the stalemate created at the last corner of the negotiations between ITA and Lufthansa with the unions again showing “strong concern” and asking Mef, the only person -shares of the new company, get an urgent meeting. picture of the current situation.

The file is in the hands of the director general of the Economic Department of the MEF, who is responsible for the investors, Marcello Sala. The question is price. The game seems to be still open. And, according to what has emerged, among the ideas would also be the possibility of an arrangement to establish the final purchase price in an effort to have the expected documents about the commercial contracts sent by Ita and Lufthansa signed up with competing airlines to ensure. competition. Treaties that were not signed by the Mef after the German request for concessions. The deadline is November 11 but it seems that Brussels is willing to extend the time to reach the closure and thus remove the Italian-German alliance.

In the last few days, the German giant, taking advantage of some contractual clauses, requested that a discount of several million on the second installment be paid to the shareholder, equivalent to another 325 million euros to acquire another 49% of Ita, after the first one. an increase of reserved capital, also of 325 million, to obtain the first share of 41% of the blue company.
Lufthansa justified the request with the cost of some investments made after the 2023 alliance agreement and with the valuation of the Italian company which, according to the German partners, would have been lowered. A request rejected by the ministry through XX Settembre, which demands that the commitments be respected.
The unions are concerned that the negotiation could end up off track and that Ita Airways workers will pay the consequences. Filt Cgil, Fit Cisl, Uiltrasporti, Ugl Ta and Anpac request a “clarification” meeting with the Mef in a “short time”, inviting him to sign the document on commitments.

“There is a risk that this would jeopardize the success of the work and if this were to happen, it would be a very serious matter because it would be the workers themselves who would be in a dangerous situation”, warns Uiltrasporti. Filt CGIL denies “as far as trade union groups, the Mef has never consulted us and we want to be involved to have clear information”. The same unions also want a conflict with Alitalia Sai to start in separate administration after the company started the procedure to dismiss 2,059 workers. There is a need for a “joint review” of the staff reduction procedure, according to practice, they explain.
The 2,059 workers will be able to count on the redundancy payment until December 31, 2024 and then after they have been dismissed on Naspi; the Solidarity Fund for air transport could also intervene.
