“We return to pre-pandemic normality at all borders. There will be more favorable entry conditions in the 237 international steps for Argentines and international tourism”, said the National Director of Migration, Florencia Carignano.
The official decision, which displaces the Ministry of Health with regard to border issues, was announced by the Ministry of the Interior to the governors of the provinces with international border crossings.
In the next few days, the 237 entry and exit points will be opened, both by land, river, sea and air. All will return to operating according to pre-pandemic conditions.
The measure, which implies the simplification of all entry procedures, stipulates the elimination of the categories of “safe corridors” and, consequently, of the PCR analysis and vaccination requirements for entry into the country of both citizens, residents like foreigners.
The meeting, which was virtual, was led by the head of the portfolio, Eduardo “Wado” de Pedro, together with the Secretary of the Interior, José Lepere, and Carignano. In addition, there were the governors and representatives of the 15 provinces with international passes, who from the entry into force of the measure will define the openings or possible changes of regimes together with the DNM.
The new regulation, whose implementation will be effective as of its publication in the Official Gazette, provides that the points of entry into the country enabled up to now will operate under the new established conditions.
At the same time, together with the provincial authorities, a scheduled and staggered opening of the entry points not enabled so far will be carried out.
According to the new provision, Argentines, residents and non-residents, must complete the Electronic Sworn Declaration in the 48 hours prior to the trip, but as of the new rule they will be exempt from doing so if they enter the country for a period of less than 24 hours a day and do it by land.
Meanwhile, all travelers must complete the Electronic Affidavit and tourists must also have Covid-19 insurance.
