Al-Marsad newspaper: The Nuclear Materials Authority of the Ministry of Electricity and Energy is preparing to announce new reserves of black sand in southern Egypt during 2023.
Dr Hamid Mira, head of the authority, said there are large reserves to be announced in the coming period, explaining that an investigation is underway for all places, coasts and beaches nationwide. According to the newspaper “Al-Mal”.
He specified that Egypt has about 11 sites for the production of black sand, including Burullus and Glion, where the works have started, as well as Rosetta, North Sinai and other coasts of Egypt, and is preparing to offer a series of other investor sites.
He added that this sand is used in 41 industries, especially the hulls of aircraft and automobiles, oil pipelines and nuclear radiation materials, because it contains a lot of heavy metals through a bunch of layers within the soil.
