Being a country with great teams and a great fans in Europe, the Champions League has taken into account Portugal repeatedly to host the final battle of this prestigious competition.
The story dates back to 1967 when the first final was played in Portuguese territory, taking place in Lisbon in the final that won the Celtic Glasgow from Scotland with a score of 2-1 at Inter Milan from Italy.

The second final was held in 2014 in Lisbon in the final that won the Real Madrid in the extension to Atlético de Madrid.
Last year with the problems of the pandemic, the final between the Bayern Munich and PSG took place in Lisbon without the presence of fans, a match that was won by the German squad with a score of 1-0.

This year in Lisbon will be the fourth Champions League final played in Portuguese territory, now with fans in the stands as it was in the first two years.
This will be the first time that Portugal receives a final that is not at the Lisbon stadium, now it will be played at the Do Dragao Stadium in Porto, home of Portugal’s first division soccer club Porto.

The House of Dragons has already hosted important events on the international level. Do Dragao hosted five Euro 2004 matches, Portugal vs. Greece, Germany vs. Holland, Italy vs. Sweden, Czech Republic vs. Denmark and Greece Czech Republic saw action.
