All private and government offices will remain closed in Delhi from 8 to 10 September, while banks and commercial establishments including markets in New Delhi district will also remain closed during this period. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday approved a proposal to declare September 8 to 10 as a public holiday in view of the G20 summit in the national capital. As per the Delhi government’s proposal, all the schools and colleges in the city as well as the offices of the Delhi government and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) will remain closed during these three days. The Delhi government has sent the file of this proposal to Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena for his approval. After the approval of the Lieutenant Governor, the Delhi government will issue a public notification.

All commercial and business establishments including all banks and financial institutions falling under the jurisdiction of New Delhi Police District will remain closed till 8-10 September.

Some metro stations, including the Supreme Court and the Central Secretariat, are also likely to be closed for security reasons during these three-day holiday.

Except for essential services during the holiday, heavy vehicles will also not be allowed to enter the city during these three days.

During these three days, all the markets and malls in the New Delhi district will remain closed.

All vehicles except goods vehicles and buses will be allowed to enter Delhi from Rajokri border. For this, vehicles will be diverted from NH-48 towards Rao Tula Ram Marg, Olof Palme Marg. No vehicle will be given entry from NH-48 towards Dhaula Kuan.

If a passenger has to go to airport, bus stand or New Delhi or Old Delhi Railway Station, he/she is advised to use Delhi Metro and suggested routes.

Taxis and autos will also not be allowed to enter the New Delhi district. According to Delhi Police, if an auto has a passenger, it can drop the passenger in New Delhi. Only taxis carrying locals living in New Delhi district and tourists with valid bookings in New Delhi district will be allowed. No taxi or auto will be allowed to stop in New Delhi district.

No vehicle will be allowed inside Mathura Road (Ahead of Ashram Chowk), Bhairon Road, Purana Qila and Pragati Maidan tunnel. All city buses will ply towards outer Delhi.

During the three-day holiday, goods vehicles related to housekeeping and catering etc. will be allowed in the affected areas.
