The director of Citizen Security, Major General Hernán Bustamante Jiménez, delivered on the morning of this first January a general balance in terms of security throughout last December, which he described as the safest of the last 19 years lived in Colombia .
“Today we provide Colombians with a positive balance in terms of security during the beginning of 2022, reaching a downward trend in crimes with the greatest impact such as homicide and theft, despite the occurrence of some cases of violence and irresponsibility in some regions, “said the uniformed man at a press conference.
According to the institution, throughout December there was a significant reduction in homicides, highlighting 772 municipalities where this crime did not occur.
“There are 13 regions where December was the safest month in the last 19 years due to the significant reduction in the crime of homicide, Bogotá (87), Cali (115), Santander (4), Villavicencio (5) and Pereira stand out. (10) and Guajira (7), ”said the Police.
On the other hand, the institution reports that between 06:00 pm on December 31 and 06:00 am this Saturday there were 8 deaths in 15 road accidents.
Also, in December more than 4,747 bottles of adulterated and / or contraband liquor valued at 300 million pesos were seized.
The National Police imposed 490 subpoena orders for behavior contrary to coexistence, of which 36 correspond to the manipulation of pyrotechnic material. The most recurrent behaviors contrary to coexistence were due to the carrying of sharp weapons (360 cases) and fights (89).
We respectfully call on Colombians to put into practice responsibility and prudence in the celebrations of the beginning of the New Year, avoiding behaviors contrary to healthy coexistence that can affect the safety and integrity of people.
