Snowfall arrived in Helsinki on Wednesday evening.

The rains are slowly making their way to the southwest. During the evening, there may also be rain showers.

The snowfall area predicted for the end of the week extends wider than previously predicted in the latest forecast. According to Foreca, snowfall may occur widely in the entire southern region of Lapland.

According to the latest forecast, the most snow will accumulate in the eastern part of the country, where the snow may even come as snow. Up to 10–15 centimeters of snow can accumulate in Kainuu on Friday and Saturday.

Driving conditions are bad in many places on Friday and Saturday.

– Based on the latest forecast, the amount of snowfall on Friday in the eastern part of the country is mostly 1-10 centimeters. On Saturday, the accumulation in the southern and central parts of the country and in Kainuu and North Ostrobothnia will also be 1–10 centimeters, in places in Kainuu it can reach 15 centimeters, meteorologist Anna Latvala says Foreca on the blog.

– Based on the current forecast, we are not talking about many centimeters in Uusimaa, but the amounts can still change. It may not snow at all on the southwest and west coasts and in Lapland.

Night frosts are expected throughout the country on the night before Thursday. In the south it is 0–5 degrees below zero, in the central part of the country it is 5–10 degrees and in the north 10–20 degrees.
