In Israel, 12 people were killed, including an IDF soldier and two children, as a result of rocket and missile attacks from Gaza.

The violence broke out against a backdrop of tension over an Israeli court decision to evict Palestinian families from their homes in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood of Zionist-occupied East Jerusalem. The tension mounted when the Zionist police attacked worshipers inside the Al-Aqsa Mosque during last Ramadan.

The fighting, the heaviest since 2014, came to a halt on Friday last week under an Egyptian-brokered ceasefire.
