Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —
Candidate Mass Migrant workers Indonesia held a demonstration in the pouring rain, demanding that the Ministry of Manpower (Ministry of Manpower) RI can re-open intergovernmental programs (G to G) to South Korea.
This demand was conveyed by CPMI through a demonstration held in front of the Ministry of Manpower Building, Monday (18/8). The Head of the Action Coordinator, Azis Yurianto, said that in general his party demanded clarity regarding the status of their placement as CPMI.
The reason is said Azis, currently they have waited for almost two years but have not yet been placed in South Korea and Taiwan due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
“Many of us who are CPMI from South Korea’s G to G program have not yet been placed,” he explained CNNIndonesia.com at the location of the action in front of the Ministry of Manpower, Jalan Gatot Subroto, South Jakarta, Monday (18/10).
Azis said that his party questioned the government’s move that had not reopened the placement of PMIs to South Korea.
He considered that the reason for the Covid-19 pandemic in Indonesia should not be used as an excuse by the Ministry of Manpower. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the situation has begun to improve.
On the other hand, Azis said that now many neighboring countries have started sending their workers back to South Korea.
“Yesterday, the reason was because of the Covid-19 pandemic, it might still be accepted by CPMI. However, at this time many countries have started to put their citizens back to work in South Korea,” he said.
According to him, the government needs to be more serious in trying to reopen the G to G program to South Korea.
He said, during the Covid-19 pandemic, CPMI was only thrown around by the Indonesian Migrant Workers Protection Agency (BP2MI) and the Ministry of Manpower without any certainty.
In fact, Aziz said that currently there are at least 12 thousand CPMI who depend on this government program for their lives.
“Because those affected by this policy are not only the CPMIs, but also the families of each CPMI themselves who are their dependents,” he said.
Furthermore, he admitted that his party would again hold a follow-up action with more mass escalation if the government’s demands were not met.
“Of course we will take further action if the government still doesn’t budge. If currently there are around 5,000 people in action, in the future we will mobilize up to 10,000 people in action,” he said.
