Southern Poland another day fighting with the big water. At the moment all eyes are on Nysa, Wrocław and the Racibórz reservoir. On Tuesday morning, Joanna Kopczyńska, president of Wody Polskie, who has headed this institution since January 2024, spoke to the Prime Minister about the state of infrastructure that is supposed to support the fight against the flood wave.
Buków Polder – we had seepage (water seeping – editor’s note). It resulted from the fact that there is an illegal outlet belonging to a liquidated industrial plant. Unfortunately, it happens that someone undermines such installations. We do not know about it. The pipeline was covered and an embankment was created in this place. We thank the State Fire Service for its participation (in this action – editor’s note) – said Joanna Kopczyńska during Tuesday’s meeting of the crisis team.
She did not reveal which facility she was referring to.

The Buków Polder is a key reservoir for the Racibórz reservoir. These two facilities cooperate with each other. Buków has a flood capacity of 57 million cubic meters. The capacity of Racibórz is 185 million cubic meters.
The construction of Polder Buków was initiated in 1989. In 1997 it was halfway through. “In July 1997, the Oder valley was hit by a catastrophic flood, the scale of which exceeded the wildest expectations. The Buków Polder was not yet ready to absorb the flood” – Polish Waters inform on their website.
The reservoir was put into operation in 2002. The accumulation of water from the current flood wave began on Saturday.

Polish Waters: the computing center counts and observes
The president of Polish Waters assured at Tuesday’s morning headquarters that the institution “is aware of the situation”.
– We are everywhere. We monitor, patrol and act. Our computing center counts and watches as water drains from the tanks, and then determines how much we can screw in or unscrew. (It is still working – editor’s note) she assured.

I think such facilities should have motion and heat sensors coupled with camera image recording and notification for security, monitoring service, etc. If they cost a few million and can cause serious damage, then 10 or 100 thousand of additional cost is nothing…. In addition, people living in the area should have free education in foreign accents and easier contact with the above services…. Let’s remember the times we live in…

The markets of Polish cities are concrete frying pans with a rare rickety green. In the summer, 50 degrees on the pavement and no shade. After rain, a quick runoff to the storm drain and to the river. Mass cutting of the alleys of old trees. In the countryside, a city dweller buys a plot of land and cuts down all the trees, plants arborvitaes by the fence. Cutting down forests for wood, new growth takes 50-80 years. Peat bogs – natural retention disappear before the eyes and end up in bags as garden soil. Development of floodplains. Predatory exploitation and the effects as you can see.
Keep building blocks, cut down trees, in normal conditions water would soak into the ground, but in ours it flows off like a rock. The architecture of Polish cities is pure profit, concrete, concrete and thirdly, concrete
this shows that the Polish waters had no other goal than to fill well-paid positions with PiS members
A brave woman who leads this action. Little known and very “quiet” but at the same time competent..

I suppose our uncle discovered it. Now Bodnar will find the perpetrator in a flash.
Polish Waters should first of all look at the sky and observe the thickness of the rain cloud layer, let them monitor the situation with their neighbours and notify the services in time, and let them not forget to empty the reservoirs earlier.
It’s a pity that nature wanted it that way😄
It’s because of the muskrats 😂😂😂.
Success of the crisis management team.
