It was Kjetil Andre Østhus (28) from Karmøy who stayed killed the night of January 1 in Haugesund.
The police were notified that a man had been stabbed outdoors in Presthaugvegen in Haugesund, on the night of 1 January at 01.28. Life could not be saved, despite attempts at life-saving first aid.
Two people have been arrested for the murder. A British citizen is charged with murder, while a Norwegian citizen is charged with complicity in murder. Both deny criminal guilt.
On Monday, it became known that both the Norwegian and the British citizen is remanded in custody for four weeks, until 31 January.
Østhus was with friends and celebrated New Year in an apartment near the scene when the murder took place, according to police lawyer Fredrik Martin Soma.
– They were out to set off fireworks when the two accused, who are connected to another apartment nearby, came in contact with the victim and his friends. It was in this context that the victim was killed, says Soma.
