The fact that the Yakut studio Fntastic is closing, its representatives announced in social networks. This happened just four days after the game’s early access release.
“Today we are announcing the closure of Fntastic studio,” the company said in a tweet. “Unfortunately, The Day Before suffered a financial failure, and we do not have the funds to continue. All income received goes to pay off debts to our partners. We put all our effort, resources and man-hours into developing The Day Before, which became our first major game. We really wanted to release new patches to unlock the full potential of the game, but, unfortunately, we do not have the funds to continue work. It is important to emphasize that during the development of The Day Before we did not take money from players: there was no “No pre-orders or crowdfunding campaigns. We apologize if we did not meet your expectations. We did our best, but unfortunately we misjudged our capabilities. Game development is an extremely difficult business.”
The Day Before was released on December 7 to “mostly negative” reviews. The game was expected to remain in early access for six to eight months, but now that Fntastic has closed, the game’s future is unknown. The servers will remain online for now.
