Louane, in full promotion of his album “Sentiments”, released at the end of 2022, lent himself to the game of “small talk” in the podcast of the same name. In an interview posted this Wednesday, February 15, the singer returned to one of the worst pains experienced in her life, which she will remember for a long time.

Louane Emera gave birth to a baby girl, Esmée, in 2021. Like many women, she had to deal with pregnancy-related pain. An episode far from being a cakewalk. “I was sick very quickly, for a long time. For more than the first trimester. I was vomiting but not a lot. Lots of nausea. It was all day, feeling muddy for 4 and a half months, it’s unbearable!” , she detailed in the podcast Bliss.

“It was really intense”

Childbirth, another step that can be physically demanding, was dreaded by the young woman. “I have always been afraid of having pain during childbirth. (…) In addition, I had an extraordinary obstetrician who made me push during my cesarean section, psychologically it was really intense. (. ..) It meant that I didn’t have the feeling of not giving birth.”

But, when asked by David Castello-Lopes in the podcast “Small Talk“At the moment in her life when she suffered the most physically, Louane remembered another unforgettable episode. “There is something in my life that makes me hurt very often, which I am not going to talk. I’m not super open on the subject at the moment, it’s a pretty severe pain, but in the end I lived worse”, she began, before confiding: “I had an ovarian cyst , at a time in my life, that I did not feel.”

“I vomited, it was horrible”

According to the Health Insurance website ameli.fran ovarian cyst is a swelling (an increase in the volume of a tissue or organ) containing fluid present on one or both ovaries. Most often benign, the presence of a cyst in this location is however abnormal. In 90% of cases, the cyst will regress spontaneously. 5-7% of women are likely to develop one during their lifetime. The cyst also breaks down into two families, it is “organic” (its origin is unknown) or “functional”, it is then due to a hormonal imbalance.

“Ovarian cysts usually hurt, mine exploded. I threw up. It was horrible,” Louane recalled. “It was after a charity evening. I was in Aix-en-Provence, my guy (the musician Florian Rossi; editor’s note) joined me in the night. It was adorable, we had the prospect of a romantic evening in Aix-en-Provence, and suddenly, it broke me in two. My boyfriend had to take me to the hospital because I couldn’t walk.” There, the young woman is taken care of: “They gave me an infusion of painkillers, because a cyst which explodes, it means that it is no longer there, and so much the better.”

In the event of a cyst rupture, the treatment is essentially medical. It actually consists of an analgesic treatment that uses anti-inflammatories. A laparoscopy can be performed in case of doubt about the diagnosis. “The moment it (the cyst; editor’s note) explodes, it’s excruciating. And suddenly I vomited because I was in pain, because it was excruciating as pain” concluded Louane.
