Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Proxy support is now available for WhatsApp users worldwide. This support gives Meta’s chat app the ability to keep people logged in to WhatsApp if their internet connection is blocked or interrupted.
By choosing a proxy, users can connect to WhatsApp through servers created by volunteers and organizations around the world dedicated to helping people communicate freely.
“Connecting through a proxy will maintain the high level of privacy and security provided by WhatsApp,” wrote WhatsApp quoted from its official blog, on Sunday (8/1/2023)
The Meta-owned company promises that private messages will still be protected by end-to-end encryption. This means that WhatsApp ensures that the messages you send remain only between you and the person you are communicating with and cannot be seen by anyone else, not even the proxy server, WhatsApp or Meta.
“Our hope in 2023 is that there will be no more internet outages,” they said.
They then give examples such as the grid outages that have occurred in Iran for months that deprived human rights of human rights and resulted in obstacles in the delivery of aid.
As these network outages continue, WhatsApp hopes these solutions will help people communicate securely and reliably whenever they need to.
“This option is now available in the settings menu for anyone running the latest version of our app.” she concluded.
