It turns out that this is the reason for Chery leaving Indonesia twice

Jakarta

Chery has once again opened a new chapter in the Indonesian automotive industry. Chery’s return was marked by the launch of two Tiggo 7 Pro and Tiggo 8 Pro SUVs. It is undeniable that some circles still doubt Chery’s return.

Understandably, this is not the first time Chery has enlivened the Indonesian automotive market. As we all know, Chery has twice set foot in Indonesia but just left. Apparently there is a separate story behind Chery’s withdrawal from the Indonesian automotive market. Even though it was priced at a low price, Chery’s products at that time were considered unable to meet the demands of the Indonesian people.

“Several years ago we came to Indonesia but at that time Chery was not yet big. The right-hand drive market at that time was very different, our research and development team also had different products, therefore they needed time to study the differences between the right-hand drive and left-hand drive car markets. ,” said Chery International President Zhang Gui Bing when met at his office, Wuhu, Anhui, China.

Zhang realized at that time that Chery had different products and did not suit the tastes of most people. Zhang said he finally suggested to management to stop operating. Even if the sales continued, it would definitely get worse.

“In 2019 we carried out a large-scale investigation. The research and development team then produced a right-hand drive platform. For this reason, we are ready to enter the right-hand drive car market again,” explained Zhang.

Chery’s journey to develop the right-hand drive market has started in 2021 in South Africa, Pakistan and recently in Indonesia. Not only that, Chery also plans to enter Australia and England this year.

“Even we have discussed with Japanese manufacturers and have asked to still go to Japan. But when we decide to return to Indonesia, we have to take care of our old customers,” said Zhang.

“We provide spare parts. We have conveyed that we can provide spare parts when they return to Indonesia, so consumers can feel more at ease,” said Zhang.
