PKS declared its support for presidential nominations Anies Baswedan. Support for Anies is given PKS on the following considerations.
“First, he is a symbol of change, because we want to see a better Indonesia in the future,” Deputy Chairman of the PKS Syuro Council, Sohibul Iman, told reporters at a press conference in Jakarta, Monday (30/1/2023).
He explained that his party had determined the criteria for a presidential candidate through the 7th Syuro Council Conference in August 2022. The first criterion for a presidential candidate supported by PKS was a matter of a symbol of change. The second criterion is a matter of ‘nationalist-religious’ character.
“On the one hand very religious, on the one hand a nationalist figure,” said Sohibul.
The third criterion is the electability of the presidential candidate. The electability of a presidential candidate supported by PKS must have the potential to win.
Apart from that, there is the Small Team which formulates the characteristics of the presidential candidates. There are 4P criteria, namely platforms, pairs, wins, and portfolios.
“When we agree on these four things, that is the basis for considering our choice of this candidate,” said Sohibul.
