Are you embarrassed to wear shorts because your feet are big? Just ignore that thing. Because, recent research has found that owners of large feet are less likely to develop hypertension.
According to a New York Post report, US researchers found that having more fatty tissue in the legs makes a person less likely to have high blood pressure or hypertension. This proves that fat in the legs actually has good health benefits.
“While we know for sure that fat around the waist is detrimental to health, the same is not true for leg fat. So when you have a lot of fat in your legs, it’s not a bad thing, it protects you from hypertension,” says researcher, Aayush Visaria.
Visaria continued, if the findings were to be carried out into bigger and stronger studies, even in studies using easy-to-perform measurement methods, this has the potential to influence patient care.
In other words, in measuring waist circumference, we can know the approximate belly fat. Well, measuring the circumference of the thigh may also be a measuring tool. “Although it’s a little complicated and not much studied so far,” the researcher added.
