The heaviest fighting in the Luhansk region is still going on in the Kremennaya area, said the head of the OVA, Serhiy Gaidai, on the morning of February 21. Video of his speech on the air of the national telethon published in the press service of the Luhansk OVA in Telegram.
According to Gaidai, the number of attacks by Russian troops in the area of Belogorovka, Luhansk region, has slightly decreased over the past 24 hours, however,the intensity of the attack of the occupiers near Kremennaya is still high.
“In the Kremensk direction, the Russians tried to make a breakthrough with forces of one company of tanks and a company of infantry. It turned out to be a good fire of enemy tanks“ for a million, ”said the head of the OVA, demonstrating video of destroyed tanks of invaders.
He clarified that the battle was difficult, but as a result, the situation was stabilized – the offensive of the invaders bogged down.
In the Svatov direction, Gaidai added, on February 21, the invaders evacuated the dead and wounded, since the day before they also suffered significant losses when trying to break through the defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Gaidai said that in the Lugansk region, the Russians managed to collect a fairly serious number of reserves, but they still experience a shortage in manpower, especially in the military personnel.
Therefore, he explained, the invaders are the first to throw into battle those mobilized from the temporarily occupied Ukrainian territories, then the mobilized Russians, and only then the well-trained military personnel of the Russian Federation.
After a full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, the invaders captured almost the entire Lugansk region. The last major city of the region, Lisichansk, left the Armed Forces of Ukraine on July 3.
In late August – early September, the Ukrainian military launched a counteroffensive in the south and east of the country.
