It took a year to identify the remains of a woman and there are still no clues about her murder: police mystery in New York

The human remains found in the backyard of a house in Jamaica (Queens) last summer have finally been identified as those of Gloria Lee, a 54-year-old woman who disappeared in Brooklyn, the New York police reported.

Lee’s case has now been declared a homicide by the city medical examiner’s office, though It is still unclear how he died. An NYPD spokesman said the death was caused by a type of “indeterminate” violence.

Lee, a resident of Flatbush, was last seen in May 2021 and was reported missing to police in October.

Meanwhile, on July 26 of that year, outside a home on Pine Grove Street in the Jamaica neighborhood, a passerby called 911 after finding a skull in sight on the sidewalk, the police said. Corpse-sniffing dogs were called in and found plus additional human remains behind the house.

The medical examiner recently linked the two cases and confirmed that the remains belonged to Lee. No further details are available at this time, according to Gothamist.
