The report* of Dice on Tech salaries, fueled by feedback from more than 9,000 professionals employed across the Atlantic, testifies to the dynamism of demand.
In the United States, where salaries are higher than in France, the average salary in IT professions increased by 3.6% in 2020 to reach $ 97,859.
Certainly, many companies have tightened their budgets to resist the impact on their activity of the health crisis (Covid 19). But they have also sought to acquire the skills that will enable them to support the accelerated digitization of their organization and to strengthen the cybersecurity of their systems and networks.
This strong demand for skills and qualified profiles, coupled with a relatively low IT unemployment rate in the US (3% in December 2020, compared to 6.7% for the US economy as a whole), influenced the increase in sector remuneration.
Beyond Silicon Valley
In addition to established technology hubs, from Silicon Valley (+ 2.4% to $ 126,801) to New York City (+ 11.6% to $ 114,274), via Boston in Massachusetts (+ 2.4% at $ 111,069), other hubs are benefiting from this dynamic, such as Austin in Texas (+ 9.7% to $ 104,344) and Charlotte in North Carolina (+ 13.8% at $ 99,691).
All poles combined, data scientists (+ 12.8% to $ 119,898), cybersecurity analysts (+ 16.3% to $ 103,106) and DevOps engineers (+ 12.2% to $ 115,125) have experienced the largest salary increases between 2019 and 2020 in the United States.
In France, there is no surge, except for certain experts.
The trend is expected to continue this year 2021.
