San José, Jan 31 (EFE).- The number of accumulated cases of covid-19 in Nicaragua grew to 20,415 in the last seven days, while the number of deaths remained at 245, the Ministry of Health reported on Tuesday.

A total of 39 people were detected with covid-19 since January 24, to bring the number of accumulated to 20,415 since March 2020, when the pandemic reached Nicaragua, while no new deaths were reported, according to the weekly report. of the Nicaraguan health authority.

Nicaragua maintains the same number of deaths from covid-19 since July 2022, established at 245.

The figures from the Ministry of Health remained distant from those offered by the Covid-19 Citizen Observatory, a network of independent doctors that monitors the pandemic and that until last July had reported 6,066 deaths from pneumonia and other symptoms of the coronavirus, in addition to 32,650 suspected cases, data that is not recognized by the Government.

Additionally, the health authorities reported that “31 people who were in responsible and careful follow-up have complied with the established period”, for a total of 15,592 of these patients.

In its report, the Ministry of Health said that 15,308 patients have recovered after contracting the coronavirus.

In the Central American country, 92% of the population over 2 years of age already have the full covid-19 vaccination schedule, while 96% have at least one dose, according to official data.

Since the pandemic began, Nicaragua has not applied restrictive measures as part of the fight against the coronavirus, which has earned it criticism from the World Health Organization (WHO). EFE
