It looks nice: An animated roll-up player is headed to Android

It first appeared in the development version of Android 13, but in the end it did not make it to the final release. Now it’s back as part of Developer Preview 2 of the upcoming fourteenth Android. The object in question is media player in the top system rolloutwhich is not only equipped with practical controls, but is also animated. Visual Dynamic reactions appear when content is played and the play/pause button is tapped.

Once an audio or video related to the player is running on the phone, reflections and colors “ripple” on the background of its rectangular tiles through the visual of the song or album. This was already visible last year. This year’s novelty is the animated reaction of the play/pause button, which also has the form of a visual ripple.

It can be assumed that the final version of this feature will be able to react with animations to the tempo and content of the audio. Even if not, it will be an interesting way to revive the system and at the same time let the user know a little more clearly that something is being played. Currently on animations obviously still workingbecause they appear, for example, even after stopping the playback.

How often do you use this roller shutter player?
