Information on the return “Good Talk” to Polish Television Jan Pospieszalski he provided in a video posted on Saturday evening on the program’s Facebook fanpage.
– They say we have to come back in September. I say “supposedly” because president Jacek Kurski changed his mind several times. Now he wrote a handwritten note on one of the letters that the producer of the program sent to the board and we have to come back from September – he said.
Pospieszalski noted that “unfortunately, no other actions, no other specific decisions bring the ‘It’s Worth Talking’ program closer to the TV schedule.” – We are waiting for specifics. Let’s hope the program will come back, he stressed.
The journalist thanked the supporters of the program for their support in this situation.
“It’s worth talking” disappeared after an episode on epidemics and vaccinations …
The confusion around “It’s Worth Talking” began with the issue of an episode on April 12, in which Jan Pospieszalski and the invited guests (doctors, lawyer and publicist) critically assessed the government’s strategy to combat the epidemic. In the introduction to the interview, the journalist stated that “there are also entrepreneurs in a dramatic situation who, despite shields and immediate aid, go bankrupt and close their businesses”.
The opinions expressed in the program were outrageous Joanna Lichocka, a PiS MP and a member of the National Media Council. – Jan Pospieszalski is probably against lockdown, because he cannot earn money with concerts but in the public media undermine the need to wear masks in the middle of a pandemic, act against restrictions, etc. – well, this is a scandal – she assessed on Twitter. – In my opinion, the scandalous message of the “It’s Worth Talking” program on TVP requires a reaction from the National Media Council. At the next meeting, I will submit a draft RMN position on this matter – Lichocka announced.
Letters asking for explanations on this matter were also sent to the president Polish Television Jacek Kurski and the chairman of the National Broadcasting Council, Witold Kołodziejski.
… and the opinion of the TVP Ethics Committee
On Monday, April 19, issue “It’s worth talking” live on the shared band TVP3 was canceled just before the scheduled time. The program was recorded, but not shown on TVP1 and TVP Polonia, where you can usually watch its reruns.
The next day, the public broadcaster published the position of the TVP Ethics Committee regarding the episode of Jan Pospieszalski’s program from a week earlier. According to the Commission, in “It’s Worth Talking”, the rules of journalistic ethics applicable on TVP were violated, because only critical opinions were presented about the government’s fight against the epidemic.
Telewizja Polska emphasized that the decision of the Ethics Committee “created a new moral and legal context for the program” It’s Worth Talking “, therefore the broadcaster and the producer of the program” started talks about the conditions for maintaining the program in the future offer of the public broadcaster “.
But the editorial office of “It’s worth talking” she stated on social media that she did not take the ruling into account. – In our opinion, this judgment was issued without procedures that involve hearing all parties to the proceedings. The host and producer of the program have never been summoned to the Commission to provide explanations on the program of 12/04/2021 – she noted.
On the website D Tanierozmawiac.pl published an appeal to the president of TVP to restore the program. – The real mission of public television is not to be a propaganda mouthpiece of the ruling party, but to present different views and freedom of expression. I regret to notice that for a long time the television you are managing has a clear problem with this, as evidenced by the photo from the antenna of the program “It’s Worth Talking”, where the actions of the Law and Justice government were dared to undermine – stated in the petition. So far, it has been signed by 22.4 thousand. Internet users
In turn, the SDP Press Freedom Monitoring Center asked the TVP authorities to broadcast the episode “It’s Worth Talking” from April 19 this year and to permanently restore the program to the schedule.
