PANDEGLANG, INFADAR.ID — This is an alarming development. HIV/AIDS cases in Pandeglang regency have increased significantly. In 2021, only 47 cases were recorded, in 2022 it reached 70 cases.
In 2022, the Pandeglang Regency Health Office (Dinkes) recorded that there were as many as 70 HIV/AIDS cases.
These cases are far more than in 2021, where only 47 cases of residents were HIV/AIDS positive.
Pandeglang (Dinkes) District Health Bureau Chief Raden Dewi Setiani said HIV/AIDS cases have occurred in Pandeglang in recent years.
In 2019 there were 35 cases, in 2020 there were 62 people and in 2021 there were 47 cases.
Considering that in 2022 there will be as many as 70 HIV/AIDS cases that have been validated by our officials. That number is spread across almost all areas of Pandeglang.
“There are still cases of HIV/AIDS in Pandeglang. The cases are spread across several sub-districts of Pandeglang,” he said yesterday.
Dewi said that HIV/AIDS is like an iceberg phenomenon, where only a few are visible but there are many.
This is because people who are affected by the disease are reluctant to seek treatment or have tests because it is considered an embarrassing disease.
“That’s just what’s being recorded, there are many who don’t want to be examined and have their health checked. So it’s like an iceberg phenomenon, of which only a small part is discovered,” he said.
Dewi explained that there were several factors that caused the Pandeglang residents to become ill. Among them due to free sex and the use of dirty needles.
However, the virus is not easily transmitted by sufferers, because the virus cannot enter the bloodstream.
“The virus cannot be transmitted carelessly even if we are close to the sick person. The virus can be transmitted through casual sex or through wounds on our body parts,” she said.
Dewi admitted that throughout this time his party has continued to provide public understanding of the causes and dangers of HIV/AIDS to the body.
