The real power of the album title lies in the fact that it is not a question, nor is it a statement; it is more like poetry that uses two words to set thoughts in motion. You cannot help but ask yourself what will remain, what has remained, what significance the present and the past really have.
On the release day of “Was bleibt”, on August 23, 2024, Trettel presented his album to his audience live at the Kaserhof in Oberbozen. While a fire burned on the side and darkness increasingly fell, Trettel played the songs from his album with pleasant restraint: From the catchy “Bird of Prey”for which a video was also released, about songs such as “Marmorschüler”, “Week”, “Tänzer” or the instrumental “Passaggio”.
These are songs that he has written over the last few years, in which he captures or reflects moments in his life. Trettel told “Ride”that he was inspired by the committed Vinschgau thinker Armin Bernhardwho died of a serious illness in 2023. In passing, as Trettel put it sensibly and meaningfully. And it was Armin Berhard who, in a conversation with Trettel, mentioned the sentence: “It is transience that remains”.
