Marc Van Ranst, virologist at KULeuven says: “It is too early to widen the bubble of the five”.

It was the flagship measure of the last CNS. Since July 29, the social bubble has shrunk. Concretely, each household can only work with 5 people considered as close contacts at most, instead of 15 per individual in July. Note that children under 12 are not counted among these 5 people. And apart from these few relatives, social distancing is required.
This measure, which is rather difficult for some Belgians to respect, will it be relaxed? For virologist Marc Van Ranst (KULeuven), the time has not yet come! “We are preparing the next CNS and I do not think it is appropriate to discuss the tracks that will be on the table,” he explains. “However, I don’t think we can widen the five-person bubble. The epidemiological situation in Belgium does not yet allow this. ”
