/ world today news/ Before there is a proposal to build a gas distribution center in Bulgaria, it is too early to say whether the European Commission would support such a project.
This was said by the Deputy Chairperson of the Commission, Kristalina Georgieva. Brussels understands Bulgaria’s expectations to play a role in the European energy policy, which corresponds to our Georgian situation, added Georgieva.
When there is something prepared, written, proposed, of course, the Commission will discuss it. The Commission’s agenda is to have a strong Europe from an energy point of view. There is a desire to integrate the national economies more and a full understanding that Bulgaria is expected to play a role in this energy policy, which corresponds to our geographical position. But, before there is anything concrete proposed, it is too early to talk. What has been decided, firstly, is to prepare a master plan for Southeast Europe in the new conditions, looking to the future of the energy union, to give the best opportunities for this region. And, secondly, a high-level working group has been formed that will deal with this topic very seriously and responsibly. The Commission has never been against “South Stream”, on the contrary, but wants to see “South Stream” in the context of what we are now building – an energy union, one of the priorities of the new Commission. The information is from BNR.
