The president of the Senate, the liberal leader Florin Cîţu, asks the authorities, through the National Authority for Administration and Regulation in Communications (ANCOM) and the National Audiovisual Council (CNA), to stop “all Moscow propagandists” from the local media, Agerpres reports.
“It is time for Romania, through ANCOM and the CNA, to stop all Moscow propagandists from the local media,” the Senate president wrote on Facebook on Sunday.
On February 24, the NAC issued a press release urging audiovisual media service providers to ensure compliance with legal obligations regarding the correct information of the public in news and debate programs on the subject of the Russian Federation’s aggression against Ukraine. .
Among the CNA’s recommendations were: the dissemination of information taken from official and reliable sources, Euro-Atlantic and international; verification of any information directly or indirectly related to the aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine; rigor and accuracy in the presentation and debate of the subject on the implications for Euro-Atlantic security; observance of the deontological rules and paying special attention to each message disseminated with decency, discernment, responsibility and avoiding the sensational, so as not to induce panic and insecurity among the citizens.
“In order to present such topics in an objective and balanced way, the Council appreciates the contribution of the audiovisual media in a responsible way to combating false news and intensifying the editorial and editorial measures of broadcasters, in order to promote information from well-documented sources and to ensure a correct information of the public “, CNA also transmitted.
