Faced with the increase in Covid-19 contamination, Prime Minister Alexander De Croo convened a consultation committee this Friday at 3:00 p.m. As Minister-President, Elio Di Rupo will participate in the meeting. “We would like to ensure that a certain number of measures are preserved, such as the return to school after the Easter holidays or the reopening of the hospitality industry on May 1. Won’t we have to go back? We will see it tomorrow ”, he commented, assuring that the closure of schools was“ not on the agenda ”.
According to him, the consultation committee could decide to either tighten the screws or announce that the measures taken for April 1 are postponed until April 19 ”. The previous consultation committee, on March 5, announced the entry into force of the “open air plan” on that date. This was to concern amusement parks, markets, outdoor excursions or even holiday camps. As for the possibility of closing hairdressing salons and shopping centers, as recommended by certain experts, “I do not believe that this is the path we should take tomorrow”. “The yo-yo is not the solution”, argued the Walloon Minister-President.
Elio Di Rupo also deplored the lack of vaccine availability. “There is a considerable delay in production. In Wallonia, we have the capacity to carry out 200,000 vaccinations per week. If we had enough vaccines, we could double the speed of vaccination. ” Because of these delays, the return to freedom “would be more for August than July.”
