Snow has fallen in Saudi Arabia after temperatures plummeted. The mountains around the Tabuk area were covered in white, the Saudi news agency (SPA) reported.

People from different parts of the country have traveled there to enjoy the snow.

Tabuk is located near the border with Jordan and the area has a population of 667,000.

On Monday, the National Meteorological Center warned Tabuk residents of snowfall and strong winds, and security forces were preparing for potential flooding and accidents.

Winter temperatures in Tabuk often dip below 0 degrees and are usually 10 degrees colder than the rest of the country.

A few days ago it became clear that Saudi Arabia is building a huge ski area in the middle of the desert. The mega-project of NEOM – a company of the royal family (the chairman of the board is the crown prince Mohammed bin Salman), will cost as much as 500 billion dollars.

The ski resort, called Trojena, is expected to be completed for the 2029 Asian Winter Games, which the country is bidding to host. The ski resort and the hotels around it will be built on an area of 1,400 sq km, at an altitude of 1,500-2,600 m above sea level and located 50 km from the Gulf of Aqaba.

Meanwhile, hailstones hit Kuwait and heavy rains caused landslides in Jordan and many roads were closed.
