It is planned to postpone three working days next year :: Dienas Bizness

The Ministry of Welfare encourages the postponement of several working days to Saturdays next year, which fall between public holidays, according to the draft order submitted to the government for consideration.

The Labor Law provides that if one working day within a working week falls between a public holiday and a weekly rest period, the employer may designate that working day as a holiday and postpone it to a Saturday in the same week or in another week within the same month.

At the same time, this norm stipulates that the Cabinet of Ministers shall issue an order on the postponement of a working day to the following year not later than by 1 July of the current year for employees of institutions financed from the state budget who have a five-day working week from Monday to Friday. In 2021, there are three working days that fall between the holiday and the weekly rest period – Monday, May 3 (falls between the holiday – May 4, and Sunday – May 2), Friday, June 25 (falls between the holiday day – June 24, and Saturday – June 26), Friday, November 19 (falls between the holiday – November 18, and Saturday – November 20).

By transferring these working days to Saturdays within the same month, the Ministry will ensure the continuity of weekly working hours in the week from which they will be transferred, while providing residents with a larger number of consecutive rest days that they can use at their discretion.

In addition, the total number of working days in a calendar year will not change. Consequently, the draft order envisages postponing the working day of May 3, 2021 (Monday) to Saturday – May 8, the working day of June 25, 2021 (Friday) to postpone the working day to Saturday – June 19, 2021, but 19 May 2021. .to transfer the working day of November (Friday) to Saturday – November 13.

The draft order will apply to public administration institutions financed from the state budget and their employees, who have a five-working-day week from Monday to Friday. At the same time, it is also recommended that all local governments, businesses and organizations take action when observing the relevant postponement of the working day when determining working and rest time.
