It is planned not to provide Covid-19 tests to everyone / Article / LSM.lv

As the incidence of Covid-19 increases, it is expected that Covid-19 tests will no longer be performed by anyone who wishes to do so, the Minister of Health Ilze Ņķele told reporters on Tuesday (“For Development / About!”).

She said that in the summer, when the prevalence was lower, people without Covid-19 symptoms were also tested. “As objective need grows, we will call for a return to prioritization,” the minister said.

The Covid-19 test is expected to be referred to a GP and will be available to people with symptoms of the disease as well as to those who have been in contact with Covid-19 patients.

She pointed out that 6,000 Covid-19 tests per day could be performed in Latvia, but, in her opinion, the capacity of 4,000 tests per day is sufficient.

She also pointed out that there is currently a shortage of test materials and a stable, predictable supply.

The requirement to use face masks does not apply to children under 13 years of age.
