It is now possible to test Android apps on Windows 11

Users who are on the channel Windows Insider Testing Program Beta (who have their PC’s region of use set to the US), can already try out one of the new features of Windows 11, the possibility of running Android apps on Windows. Tests can be performed on machines with Intel, AMD or Qualcomm hardware.

Although it was one of the big news announced for Windows 11, it ended up not being included in the first version that reached users on October 5th, which ended up causing some disappointment. Android applications run in the same graphical environment as Windows and support Windows features such as organizing and grouping the windows of open programs or pinning them to the taskbar.

The minimum software requirements for trying Android apps on Windows 11 are:

Windows 11 (Build 22000.xx)

Have virtualization functionality turned on in BIOS

Have defined the region of use for the US

Be on the Windows Insider Beta channel.

Have an Amazon (United States) account in order to use the Amazon Appstore store.

At the moment, only 50 applications are available. Microsoft says that these applications were chosen together with Amazon and some application providers to choose them. More applications will soon be added to the list.
