Developed by Yara, a world leader in plant nutrition, Atfarm, a digital tool for monitoring crops and applying variable rate nitrogen fertilizers, has just been enhanced with the new “biomass comparison” feature. The update provides a field comparison to detect changes in biomass over a given period, allowing you to track the effects of nitrogen fertilization on biomass transformation.

The comparison can be presented by the “N-Uptake”, a new map on the market, which allows to show in a quick and practical way the nitrogen uptake accumulated by the crop in a given day. The map contains different colors that indicate whether the nitrogen rate in each batch is high or low, helping to identify crop anomalies and providing greater accuracy and assertiveness in the use of fertilizers.

“A better understanding of the nitrogen demand in different parts of the field allows the producer to be more efficient and accurate within the same hectare. The “N-Uptake” shows the nitrogen uptake of the field, where each pixel is associated with a concentrated value of the nutrient, which makes it possible to identify the variation in nitrogen uptake within a field, an innovative function in market. The light yellow areas are 30 kg less than the flock average, while the dark green areas are 30 kg more than the average. “The proposal is not to show the exact amount of nitrogen at each point in the field, but rather to see if the variability is high, represented on the map with more colors, or low, with a greater predominance of a single color,” he adds. The new Atfarm functionality is complementary to the N-Sensor monitoring system, an algorithm that allows to obtain more precise images, facilitating the analysis in the field and the creation of application maps of nitrogen fertilizers with variable dosage.
