The new QR code payment solution – which was launched at the end of May – is available to the 1.5 million users that ATH Móvil currently has.

“With this functionality they can, with the same application for daily use, issue a payment in an extremely easy, secure, but above all, contactless way,” said Díaz Garratón.

Evertec noted the customer’s need to feel safe when making purchases and the importance of using technology in everyday life. Vizcarrondo commented that this is just one of the “many” features that they will offer their users and businesses.

“Our goal will always be to make the user experience faster every day,” added Vizcarrondo. “The idea is, how do I identify you as safely as possible, and how quickly do I get you out of line.”

How to use the QR Code

To make a payment, ATH Móvil users only have to enter their ATH Móvil application, scan the business QR code, wait for the purchase information to appear, review it and confirm the payment.

“Each point of sale (POS) terminal in participating businesses will have a unique QR code that will be clearly identified so that ATH Móvil users can scan with their application and make payment,” Díaz Garratón said. .

On the reception of users since the first phase of the product was launched, Díaz Garratón commented that it has been a “very good one”. “Both on the side of customers who now have an easy and fast way to pay, because they already know the ATH Móvil application, and businesses, because of how easy it is to integrate this payment method,” he added.

So far, over 200 fast food stores and other categories across the Island are already using their QR Code, however, the company hopes to be able to cover the entire Island with the innovative payment method by the end of the year.

Businesses participating in this initial phase include several fast food chain establishments such as Baskin Robbins, Burger King, Church’s Chicken, El Mesón Sandwiches, Firehouse Subs, IHOP, KFC, Krispy Kreme, McDonalds, Pizza Hut, Pollo Tropical, Popeyes, Subway , Taco Bell, Wendy’s, and others that will be announced later on social media and on the ATH Móvil website.

Payment methods evolve

Always betting on the convenience and efficiency of his product, Díaz Garratón said that the pandemic has brought ATH Móvil a significant increase in customers, both commercial and individuals who have used the application and have seen it as an effective payment channel.

“Our company and this type of product always evolves in a very agile way. Life changes overnight. Six months ago you would not think that the most important thing for a company like ours was to be connected to everyone who delivered, pharmacy, gas station, grocery stores, etc., ”said Vizcarrondo.

For Vizcarrondo and Díaz Garratón, ATH Móvil has exceeded everyone’s expectations with exceptional growth.

“We want to continue improving, evolving and adding functionalities, always thinking at the end of the day how to make life easier for them,” Díaz Garratón concluded.

Since ATH Móvil was launched in 2014, over $ 350 million payments have been completed through the digital platform.
